Ambreen Hameed is a Karachi based artist who completed her BFA from Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture in 2007. She describes her work as an “almost scientific evaluation of the internal adjustments within a human.”
Hameed, through her brilliantly executed graphite and ink drawings, discusses the idea of identity by peeling away the layers that an individual puts on, to blend into society. She feels that we are often forced to be someone we are not, which eventually results in a disconnect with our own inherent character. She tries to capture the transformation that individuals undergo which is irreversible if the person does not recognize his particularity anymore.
Hameed displayed her work in a two-person show Khwab aur Ilham at Khaas Art Gallery, Islamabad (2011).
