Akbar Ali graduated from National College of Arts, Lahore with formal training in Miniature Painting. Ali’s work revolves around the deterioration of human values or morals and the loss of identity as one is caught between embracing both the eastern and the western lifestyle.
Ali connects the degradation of society to the obliviousness of people towards their roots. Furthermore, the images investigate the acceptance of these characters in the society that gives birth to them. The artist studies these characters in depth, observing their quirks and idiosyncrasies.
In 2008 he displayed his work in Contemporary Miniatures (2008) a group show at Khaas followed by Angels or Demons? – a solo show in which he showcased 18 pieces.
